R.E.D.’s International Dance, Art, and Film Festival (RIFF) began in July 2015. It takes place on a farm overlooking Lake Einafjorden, just outside Oslo, surrounded by breathtaking Norwegian nature.

The purpose of the festival is to bridge the gap between various fields of performing and visual arts and the film industry – hence the subtitle: dance, art, and film.

The festival aims to showcase films with a strong emphasis on movement and dance, including interdisciplinary expressions such as screendance and art films, as well as more traditional and conventional short films.

Kick-Off for RIFF24 Festival

Join us for an unforgettable hour of film, art, and engagement! We invite you to the Kick-Off event for our upcoming International Dance, Art, and Film Festival, RIFF.

We’ll begin with a screening of the documentary U.R.E.D.D. by Ella Fiskum and Caroline Kløvrud. This is the story of the founding of R.E.D., the barn at Eina, and the creation of EINAWOOD. A must-see for film lovers and those seeking deeper insight into the incredible art barn at R.E.D., a regional center for dance.

Following the film, we’ll host an open discussion to share thoughts and reflections on U.R.E.D.D. The panel will feature Ella Fiskum and Caroline Kløvrud, with Gjøvik Kino & Scene moderating the conversation. Join the dialogue!

We are also thrilled to welcome choreographer Sølvi Edvardsen, who will offer insights into the profound solo performance UNDER, featuring one of Norway’s finest contemporary dancers, Cecilie Lindeman Steen. This is a rare opportunity to hear from a true artist about the creative process behind a unique production.

UNDER addresses a growing societal issue – loneliness. The performance explores and visualizes the multitude of stories, memories, and experiences that people carry within themselves and the ways in which we share them. It is a multidisciplinary work combining original music, film, and choreography.

We’re excited to bring together film enthusiasts, art lovers, and anyone curious about a night filled with inspiration and creativity. Mark your calendar and kick off our festival in an unforgettable way!

RIFF Award 2021

RIFF celebrates dance, art, and film, with diversity as a core principle.

RIFF FIFTH EDITION included powerful, visual, poetic, and provocative films, as well as realistic short films, humanistic, humorous, ecological, dance theater films, documentaries about dance and art, animations, and local culture.

The jury decided to award several films as equal winners to represent the festival’s variety. What these films have in common is their connection to dance and movement, even though some are more experimental than others.

RIFF Award 2020

This year’s RIFF film selection was based on diverse origins, camera movements, aesthetic choices, and ideologies, reflecting the wide variety within short films about movement, dance film, art film, and screendance.

As a result of this criterion, the awarded films were chosen for their reflection on the boundaries of cinematic language and the intense emotional impact they have on the audience, in line with their themes, ideologies, and audiovisual expressions.
