R.E.D. UNG
R.E.D. UNG – a development program for children and young people
R.E.D. UNG is R.E.D.’s initiative to engage children and young people in high-quality artistic projects.
Through four different projects over a three-year period, we aim to strengthen the dance and performing arts community in the region, while offering both breadth and depth – from accessible entry-level opportunities to talent development in professional productions. The goal is to continue and further develop these initiatives beyond the project period.
R.E.D. serves as a neutral and unifying arena where children and young people from different dance schools and communities can meet across styles and backgrounds. With us, they gain access to professional expertise from experienced artists and mentors, as well as a safe meeting place for growth, collaboration, and mastery.
Our four focus areas:
-
Expanding horizons – personally and professionally
-
Regular competence-building workshops
-
Inclusion and meeting places across communities
-
Talent development and collaboration between young people and professionals
Our four main projects
UNG*7 – Emotions, dance, and film
A unique project combining performing arts and film, where young participants collaborate with professional dancers, actors, and filmmakers. The project is based on the seven deadly sins and their counterparts – the seven virtues – giving the youth tools to explore and express their own emotions through dance, text, and movement. The result is 7UPERBIA – a series of short films and a stage performance.
WORKSHOP UNG – Aerial acrobatics and body control
Throughout the year, we offer monthly workshops in tissu (aerial silks) for children and young people aged 6–25. Here, they develop strength, coordination, and creativity under the safe guidance of professional instructors in circus and dance. The year concludes with a showcase during UNG HELG. Low course fee and open to all levels.
UNG HELG – A meeting place and showcase arena creating collaboration, community, and inspiration
An annual weekend gathering young dancers, dance schools, instructors, and parents from across the Gjøvik region. Day 1 is dedicated to open showings and an inclusive parents’ café. Day 2 concludes with presentations from WORKSHOP UNG.
EINAWOOD UNG – Young talents on a professional stage
Young stage talents take part in the family-friendly matinée version of our large-scale production EINAWOOD X-MAS SHOW. Together with professional dancers, musicians, and actors, they gain experience with high-level production – both individually and in groups, supported by instructors and the artistic director. This program is for those who wish and are ready to meet professional performing arts with strong dedication.
Who can join?
R.E.D. UNG is aimed at children and young people aged 6–25. The programs are tailored to different ages, skill levels, and interests – with room for both curious beginners and dedicated talents.
Volunteering and community
Parents and volunteers play an important role in carrying out our initiatives – whether it’s coordinating costumes, contributing in the parents’ café, assisting at showcases, or providing technical support. We see this as an opportunity for community, togetherness, and local engagement.
Why this matters
This project is not only about dance – it’s about building bridges. Bridges between children and young people with different backgrounds and experiences. Between local dance schools and professional artists. Between art, culture, and the local community.
Through workshops and performances, we create safe and inspiring spaces where young people can explore their own expression, develop artistically, and be part of a community. Here, they can show sides of themselves that may not find room in their everyday lives.
The project helps strengthen the role of dance in the region – and in the long run, also beyond Innlandet. It gives particularly talented children and young people the opportunity to grow, while lowering the threshold for participation regardless of background.
We believe in the value of creating a desire to live and stay in the region. And we believe in the power of giving children and young people extraordinary opportunities – through art.
The R.E.D. UNG project is supported by Sparebankstiftelsen DNB.
